It could be what they are eating, or better yet, what they are NOT eating!! If I could guarantee that your employees would double their output by eating better, would you pay for their meals? Of course you would!! I would too!! Well I’m not gonna guarantee it but I’m just saying that a lot of times, employees have no incentive to watch what they eat.
Let’s take Bob and Constantine for example. Bob works hard, at least it looks like he does by the the amount of effort it takes him to do tasks. Bob gets up every day, has his coffee, bacon and hash browns and a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich from the local convenience store. Feels great for the 1/2 hour drive to work and then once he gets to work, hits the bathroom for 15 minutes and then goes to the break room for more coffee, or better yet, for more cream and sugar with some coffee in it. Bob is pretty much setting himself up for sucking at his job the rest of the day!! Basically, you may as well fire Bob now because even if he sues you, you could lose, pay him off, hire someone else, and still be ahead of the game.
Constantine on the other hand, wakes up at 5:00am, goes to spin class, comes home, showers, has egg whites with turkey bacon, some blueberries and almonds, black coffee, and is at work by 7:00am with his laptop opened and his cyclebar water bottle full of reverse osmosis water! Constantine is a rockstar. DO NOT hate constantine because he has a mediterranean lifestyle and is always ready to go, it’s what works for him, and in turn, it’s what works best for the company!!
It comes down to this. IT’S A CHOICE!! Don’t get mad at the boss because Constantine got the promotion even though you have been there 10 years longer!! You have let yourself go and have become complacent!! 😦 Blame yourself, not your boss. Nutrition is a huge part of who you are. If you want to be Bob, be Bob, but don’t get mad when someone calls you on it. Constantine might be Bob in 10 years, but today, he is a rockstar and deserves the promotion!!
